How effective is the Hush Muff at reducing noise?
The Hush Muff provides a measurable reduction in noise levels for dogs, based on independent audio testing:
Attenuates between 6 and 12 dB in low and medium frequencies (<300 Hz to 3 kHz), which include typical rattling and traffic-related noises.
For higher frequencies (>4 kHz), such as fireworks, alarms, or loud thunder, it reduces noise by up to 12-18 dB.
Since decibels are measured on a logarithmic scale, a reduction of ~6 dB reduces the perceived volume by one-half, and ~12 dB reduces it to one-quarter of the original volume.
How do I know what size my dog needs?
Measure the widest (or largest) part of your dog's head and find the corresponding size in our sizing guide.
If your dog is between two sizes, choose the larger one.
